Yamazaki's "Katsu": A Fusion Feast of Japanese and Korean R&B with a Synthwave Twist

In the heart of Budapest, a rising star named Yamazaki is rewriting the rules of R&B. Formerly known as Beniwolf, this artist and producer are gearing up to drop a debut album that promises to be nothing short of a genre-bending odyssey. Get ready to dive into the sonic universe of "Katsu."

"Katsu," rooted in Zen philosophy and playfully paying homage to a beloved food dish, is more than an album. It's a musical diary, tracing Yamazaki's personal and artistic evolution. The tracks serve as chapters, capturing the highs, lows, and everything in between that life has thrown his way. As the album unfolds, it embarks on a journey through the rich tapestry of Japanese and Korean R&B, with unexpected detours into 70s jazz, 80s citypop, nods to 00s J-Pop, and even a dalliance with Drill.

Yamazaki's musical journey began in his teenage years when he borrowed a friend's synth. Fueled by a love for sounds, he delved into the world of classical music and learned Japanese in high school. A decade later, after finding the courage to share his truth through music, YouTube and VRChat became his platforms, where he gained recognition for both covers and original works. The cover song compilation, "One Shot," catapulted him to the spotlight within the VR community, leading to live performances at local and VR events, boasting audiences of up to 15,000.

Influenced by Korean artist Bang Yong Guk, Yamazaki found creative kinship through shared experiences. This connection spurred him to start producing Japanese covers of Guk's Korean songs, promising an exciting project in the pipeline for 2024.

Yamazaki's upcoming projects, "Unfolded," a synthwave-influenced Japanese R&B/Hip-Hop track with a live-action music video, and the much-anticipated studio album "Katsu," set to release in 2024, are eagerly awaited. Collaborations with notable artists from KunaTones/Fourtissimo, The Shamisen Orchestra, and Sora Satoh add layers of anticipation to the mix.

The journey has just begun, and Yamazaki is seizing his moment. With a new brand, a new name, and a fresh sound, he's poised to make waves in the music scene. Keep your ears tuned to the fusion feast that is "Katsu." This is Yamazaki's time, and we're all invited to the party.
